Sarah Cox graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1991. She has been making, exhibiting and selling her work ever since.  She also has over fifteen years experience in teaching ceramics, from children to adults.

“Whilst at college my ceramic work became inspired by the wonders of the sea, but the aquarium tanks of London Zoo and Kew Gardens were as close as I could get to the real thing! I am now a keen diver and take inspiration from tropical seas and far away locations, and the plants and animals that inhabit such places”.

Sarah’s ceramics are vividly colourful, humorous, animated creations that depict elements of both fantasy and reality. Blue birds, aardvarks, dogs, elephants and sea creatures are some of her themes. She makes both large and small scale sculpture and her work is mainly ‘one offs’.

Sarah Cox started out working from a railway arch in Peckham, then moved her home and studio to South Norwood. She has since relocated to Hastings.
