Thomas Petit lives and works on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire. His early career began in ceramics before he broadened his medium perspective to the art of glass. After working at The Glass House in Covent Garden and various job positions both in the UK and abroad, studio glass soon became his creative speciality.

Like many glass artists Thomas started his craft experience in the world of clay. He was then encouraged to try other artistic mediums to broaden his experience. Remembering a childhood visit to the Dartington Crystal Factory to watch glassblowing, he set about searching for a tutored course. He soon found one with Norman Stuart-Clarke in Cornwall. He was mesmerised with this new and exciting material, and clay was almost completely forgotten about!

Thomas Petit draws upon many influences from UK natural landscapes in which he’s familiar. Particularly notable landscapes include the South Downs and Peak District moors.
